In January 2014, users of the Captioned Telephone (CapTel) have experienced a change in how the caption errors are corrected. While previously incorrectly captioned words were deleted and replaced with the correction (temporarily highlighted by a different text color), now changes are indicated by providing the corrected word in parentheses afterwards, for the purpose of accountability.
Examples of the new correction format:
“Hi, this is Rita at Westside Groceries [Gina].”
“During winter break we are going to see at Lake Tahoe [ski].”
